"San Francisco (Be Sure to Wear Flowers in Your Hair"), written by John Phillips of the Mamas and the Papas, was released on this day in 1967. It reached #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 by the week of July 1 and stayed there for four weeks. I was just a little kid, but it's still the kind of song that can give you a good lump in your throat.
