Interfaith Days: World Day for Cultural Diversity

http://www.une-sen.org/press/?p=315
In 2001, the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) adopted the Universal Declaration on Cultural Diversity. The following year, the UN General Assembly (resolution 57/249) declared May 21 as the World Day for Cultural Diversity for Dialogue and Development.  The UN hopes that the day will “provide us with an opportunity to deepen understanding of the values of Cultural Diversity and to learn to ‘live together’ better.” This article points out some of the contemporary issues that make this day particularly important: http://www.un.org/apps/news/story.asp?NewsID=50922#.VV6B6kvlf1o
