Today is the International Day for Tolerance, a United Nations interfaith observance that affirms tolerance as a basic principle for respect, rights, and well-being among cultures and nations. This site provides background on the day, established on the fiftieth anniversary of the founding of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), so this is the twentieth anniversary of the day.
